We generally take wedding bookings 6 – 12 months in advance. This doesn’t mean we won’t take an earlier booking. Get in touch with us and to check our availability for your date. With our express wedding collection, we will only take your booking 4 months or less before your date.
You’ll need to complete our booking form and pay 50% deposit to secure us for the day.
Absolutely. You’re basically putting all your trust in us and paying good money to a stranger you’ve never met! We are happy to chat over coffee, a meal, or even a Zoom call.
Don’t worry about this! We understand that you are most likely not a professional model! We will tell you exactly what to do and crack lame jokes to loosen you up 🙂 By the end of it you’ll be so pumped that you’ll want more!
6 – 10 weeks, depending on how busy we are. If you have asked me about my turnaround time, please don’t keep pestering me every week about your wedding photos, I am working on it! 🙂
You get me as your solo photographer, but there is an option to add a second shooter at a fee of R 2 500.
We generally get the creative shoot done within an hour, but it can sometimes take shorter than this, depending on the size of your bridal party and the location that we have chosen for your shoot. Anything longer than an hour generally results in annoyed and hungry guests! We always advise couples to entertain guests with canapés/games/live music during the creative shoot!
As long as you have a backup venue for rainy days, this really shouldn’t be too much of a concern for you! Moody skies are the new sunsets! We’ll bring some umbrellas and provided that you’re keen to get a little bit wet for that perfect shot, we’ll jump right into the rain with you!
Although we scout locations and plan our shoots, we have come to realise with experience that no two weddings are the same and copy-cat photography just doesn’t work. Our approach to photography is to feel out the moment and connect with the people in front of us in order to document the genuine emotions in the moment. Our favourite kinds of photos are the un-posed shots of couples who completely forget that we’re there behind the camera.
Our genre of photography can be classified as “Illustrative Wedding Photography”. This genre is a mixture of documentary/photojournalism with an artistic approach. This involves taking photos of all random little moments throughout the day. We love taking un-posed photos, as it usually captures the true emotion of the moment, but at the same time, our artistic approach to photography often means that some photos just look better if the bride and groom are properly posed.
Our goal is to document your moments in an artistic manner, so that our photos can be admired and appreciated as art. We combine elements of traditional, landscape and fine art photography into our style.
Would a chef serve raw chicken at a restaurant? Definitely not! Editing is the most important and most time consuming aspect of the photography process.
Generally we take about 3 000 photos per wedding and we obviously can’t give you all of them! We will choose on average about 600 to 800 photos to edit.
Editing is an artistic medium that we use to emphasise the emotion that is being portrayed in the moment Our cameras are also heartless machines and don’t experience emotions! Certain pictures give off certain emotions, whether it is the emotion that we felt in that moment, or the emotion we feel when we look at the photo – it will determine the way that we edit that particular photo. As creatives, we are emotionally sensitive beings and we like to emulate what we can see in the frame. For example, the groom’s “first look” photo often looks better in black and white.
We take a mostly artistic, light with little contrast approach when editing. Colours are kept mostly true to life, with slight changes to green mostly. The skin tones are kept as clean as possible with minimal harsh shadows.
Our editing style can be simply described as light and airy, traditional and true to colour.
You pay us good money to do the editing for you, so it’s kind of wasteful to go and undo the hours and hours of editing that we have done for you. On average, we spend about 5 minutes per photo, depending on whether blemishes need to be removed on Photoshop. Also, we edit our photos in RAW format and convert them into JPEG format. Editing JPEGs generally causes a loss of quality and we don’t recommend that you try it!
Your entire gallery will be uploaded onto Pixieset, in high resolution. From there you are sent the link to download the images. The photos do not stay up indefinitely, so all couples are advised to download after at least 4 weeks. Thereafter the link will expire.
No. If we didn’t include a particular photo as part of your wedding collection, it is generally because she was blinking/squinting/had a double chin/looks awkward, or the photo just didn’t work.
We shoot on Nikon cameras – a brand we’ve grown up loyal to. We use two Nikon mirrorless Z5's, one with a a 40mm, and the other a 28 – 75mm.
As far as editing goes, we edit using Adobe Lightroom.
